If you have spent even a little time in Diablo 4, you will know there are plenty of ways to grind loot and XP, but the Whispers of the Dead system – most folks just call them Grim Favors – is one of the easiest loops to fall into. Your map will light up with icons showing different objectives, and each one dishes out a certain number of Favors when you finish it. The beauty here is flexibility. You can run it solo, duck into a dungeon, join a chaotic world event… whatever suits your mood. And because you are earning experience, gear, gems, and other drops at the same time, it quickly becomes a staple for farming. If you are aiming to get ahead fast, this method simply makes sense, especially when paired with solid Diablo 4 Items that help you clear content quicker.
For me, it is all about time versus payoff. Dungeons are an easy win – they pop up often as Whisper objectives and give a huge chunk of Favors in one shot. If there are two close by, you can grab half of what you need for a cache in minutes. I also keep an eye out for The Pit runs. They are quick, usually three Favors, and high-level builds chew through them without sweating. Helltide events can be great too. Taking down a Blood Maiden nets both Helltide mats and Favors, so you are doubling up on rewards without running in circles.
World Bosses and Legion events are another big one. These give as much as a dungeon – five Favors – but you have to catch them when they spawn. I tend to plan ahead by checking timers and being ready to drop whatever I am doing to jump in. They are not just lucrative, they are fun in that big chaotic “everyone’s here” kind of way that makes Diablo 4 feel alive. You can hit the ten Favor mark shockingly fast if you mix these with your other farming activities.
The trick lies in being picky. The map will show loads of Whisper objectives but not every one is worth the time. Aim for the high-Favor, low-effort options first – Dungeons, World Bosses, The Pit runs, and major Helltide targets. You will find yourself turning in caches so often it becomes part of your rhythm. Once you hit ten, head straight to the Tree of Whispers or any Raven-marked town to claim your prize. Often those caches let you choose which piece of gear you want – a specific slot like gloves or a two-hander – which means you can target your build effectively instead of hoping something drops by chance. Stick with it for a while and you will see how much smoother your endgame grind gets, especially if you are keeping an eye on cheap D4 items. |
