If you picked the wrong team during setup in MLB The Show 26, or you simply want to update your profile after changing loyalties, the process is pretty simple once you know where the option is hidden.

Compared to older entries in the series, the menu layout in MLB The Show 26 is a little different. The favorite team setting is no longer sitting directly on the main profile page, which is why many players miss it the first time.

Here’s how to change it quickly.

How to Change Your Favorite Team

To switch your favorite team in the game, follow these steps from the main menu:

Open the main dashboard.
Move to the top-right corner and open the Settings menu.
Select User Settings.
Press:
Square on PlayStation
X on Xbox
This opens the Settings Preset menu.
Scroll all the way down and select Set Favorite Team.
Choose your preferred MLB franchise from the full team list.

Once selected, the game updates your profile preference immediately.

Why Players Change Their Favorite Team

A lot of players change this setting for different reasons:

They accidentally selected the wrong team during the first launch setup.
They switched consoles and imported old settings.
They started following a different MLB club in real life.
They want menus, themes, or presentation elements tied to another franchise.

While the setting does not completely overhaul gameplay, it can affect profile presentation and certain menu visuals throughout the game.

The Setting Is More Hidden This Year

One thing many longtime players noticed is that MLB The Show 26 moved this option deeper into the settings menus.

In previous games, the favorite team option was easier to find directly from the profile section. In MLB The Show 26, you now have to access the Settings Preset screen first before the option appears.

Because of that change, a lot of players assumed the feature had been removed entirely.

Changing Teams in Different Game Modes

It is important to understand that changing your favorite team in the settings menu is not the same as changing teams inside specific career modes.

Here’s how it works in each major mode.

Road to the Show

In Road to the Show, you cannot instantly swap organizations through a menu option.

If you want to play for another club, you have to:

Request a trade through your in-game agent
Wait for free agency
Earn a roster move naturally through gameplay progression

So even if you change your global favorite team setting, your RTTS player will stay with their current organization unless a roster move happens in the mode itself.

Franchise Mode

Franchise Mode works differently.

Once you start a Franchise save, the team choice is locked for that save file. There is no mid-save option to swap ownership or control another franchise.
